Prof. Weihong ZHANG

Northwestern Polytechnical University, China


Title: Recent Advanced in Structural Optimization

Prof. Weihong ZHANG is currently the member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, full professor in the School of Mechatronic Engineering of Northwestern Polytechnical University, China. He received his PhD degree from University of Liege, Belgium in 1991. He worked as researcher fellow, Senior Researcher and Associate Professor in University of Liege, Belgium and University of Technology of Belfort-Montbeliard from 1992-1999. He joined Northwestern Polytechnical University and was honored as Cheung Kong Chair Professor (1999) and Distinguished Young Scholar of National Natural Science Foundation of China (2009).


His research interests cover advanced structure design and manufacturing. He obtained the Second Prize of National Award for Natural Science and Technological Invention, five First-Prizes of Provincial Awards for Science and Technology, as well as Asian Society for Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization (ASSMO) Award and Fellow award. He serves as the associate editor of Acta Aeronautica et Astronautica Sinica, Science China-Technological Sciences, editorial board member of Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization, EC member of ASSMO, etc. He has more than 100 national invention patents and published more than 500 peer-reviewed journal papers including papers on CMAME, IJNME, IJMTM and 6 monographs with more than 20000 citations.


He chaired more than 80 projects including National Key Research and Development Program, Key Projects of NSFC, 973 Projects and 863 Projects. He is the director of State Joint Research Center of Aerospace Materials and Structure Design and Additive Manufacturing of Ministry of Science and Technology, recognized as the distinguished expert of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, assessment expert for “Recruitment Program of High-end Foreign Experts” of Chinese government, committee member of the evaluation groups for National Natural Science Foundation of China, and member of Seventh Appraisal committee for Aeronautical and Astronautical Science and Technology Discipline of State Council.

Prof. Philippe Fournier-Viger

Shenzhen University, China


Title: Algorithms the Identification of Useful Patterns in Data from Intelligent Systems and Applications


Philippe Fournier-Viger (Ph.D) is distinguished professor at Shenzhen University (China). Five years after completing his Ph.D., he came to China in 2015 and became full professor after receiving an important national talent title. He has published more than 400 research papers related to data mining algorithms for complex data (sequences, graphs), intelligent systems and applications, which have received more than 16,500 citations (H-Index 63 - Google Scholar). He is the founder of the popular SPMF data mining library, offering more than 260 algorithms to find patterns in data, cited in more than 1,000 research papers. He is former associate editor-in-chief of the Applied Intelligence journal and has been keynote speaker for over 50 international conferences and co-edited four books for Springer. He appears in the top 0.3% of researchers for scientific influence in the Stanford list. Prof. David BASSIR

Title: Contribution of AI/ML for advanced failure detection and monitoring within Digital Twin concept 


David BASSIR is as Professor at the French University of Technology and Senior Researcher at Centre Borelli, (UMR-CNRS), University of Paris-Saclay, ENS-Cachan, France. He holds a Master and a PhD degree in structural optimization from the University of Franche-Comte (France), with the most honorable mention. Previously, he was the Dean of the University of Technology (IUT) at the University of Lorraine (France), Consult for Science and Technology at the French Embassy in China, General Director of Research at the ESTP-ENSAM (Paris) and Space Craft engineer at GECI Technology in different Space Agencies such as Arianespace (France) and Matra Marconi Space (Astrium Group). He joined the French University of Technology as associate professor in 2001 and then was qualified as Full professor in 2009. Prof. Bassir hold Doctor Honoris Causa title and was invited as visiting professor in top universities and institutes such as (TUDelft (NL), Shanghai Jiaotong (Shanghai), Northwestern Polytechnical University (Xian),  University of Oviedo (Spain), Chinese Academy of Sciences (Guangzhou), … etc). He has published over 150 papers in journals, books and conference proceedings, including more than 50 Sci. journals. He also supervised over 15 Phd. and  50 Master degrees. Most of his students have won best paper awards at conferences. And all of them are now either full professor in high ranked universities or well-known companies.


Prof. Bassir serves as or chairman or active member of various expert committees in many international organizations and highly estimated scientific societies. He is also acting as editor-in-chief and guest editors in different journals. Since 2012, he is the president of the well-recognized Sino-French Association for Sciences and Technology. In 2021 he was awarded a top 5% scientific award from the French ministry of high education and research.

Prof. Ziad Moumni

Title: Multi-scale and Multi-physics modelling of the fatigue of shape memory alloys


Prof. Ziad MOUMNI is Professor of mechanical engineering, deputy head of the Department of Mechanics, leader of the research group “matériaux et structures” (MS) and head of the “Pôle transport” at ENSTA ParisTech. He holds a Ph.D in non-linear mechanics, (LMS Ecole polytechnique, 1995) and a HDR « habilitation à diriger les recherches » in engineering sciences from the university Pierre and Marie Curie, Paris 6 (2009). His research fields deal with the theoretical and numerical modeling of the behavior, fatigue and fracture of non-linear materials and structures presenting multi-physics and thermo- mechanical coupling, namely smart materials and structures. In 2000, he created the research group MS which is today internationally recognized for its activities in the field of smart materials and structures. He is involved in many industrial applications in the field of transportation and energy (PSA, SNCF, CNES, CEA, EDF, SNECMA, Renault). He published more than 80 papers in international journals (IJP, JMPS, IJSS, SMS, IJF, IJES etc.). In 2015 Professor Ziad MOUMNI was rewarded by "The People's Republic of China Friendship Award”.

Prof. Mohammad Talha

Indian Institute of Technology Mandi, India


Title: Modelling of Functional Grade Materials and application: Review


Prof. Talha is a Professor at the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT-Mandi), India. Prof. Talha obtained his doctorate from the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT-Kharagpur) in 2012, under the guidance of Professor B N Singh in the area of functionally graded materials and structures. In his doctoral thesis, he studied the nonlinear deterministic and stochastic structural behavior of functionally graded structures based on the modified higher-order plate model. Prof. Talha has received the prestigious National doctoral fellowship from the Government of India for doing a doctoral degree at IIT Kharagpur. He obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh.

Prof. Abel Cherouat

Title: Extrudate swell optimization of PLA extrusion based additive manufacturing process


Prof. Abel CHEROUAT is full Professor at the University of Technology of Troyes (UTT). He received his engineer degree diploma in Mechanical Engineering in 1989 and Master degree and the Ph.D. in Mechanics of Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Franche-Comté, France, in 1999 and 1995 respectively. From 1995 and 1997, he was postdoctoral researcher at Arts & Métiers Paris, France to develop software for composite manufacturing and numerical simulation. He has obtained the Habilitation to Supervise Research from the University of Technology of Compiegne France in 2002. Since 2003, he is full Professor at the (UTT). He is the principal investigator of many research projects and industrial partnerships at Unit Research Automatic Mesh Generation & Advanced Methods GAMMA3 of UTT. He has supervised 34 PhD thesis. He also is the author and co-author of more than a 3 books and more than 200 papers published in international journals and conferences.
